Hills Nutrition Bark Park in Tonganoxie
The Bark Park will be closed from Monday, September 15th-Friday, October 3rd for reseeding and maintenance.  

Official park rules are posted below. Please familiarize yourself with these rules as well as City Ordinances on pet ID and Dangerous Dogs at City Codes.

Park Rules:
These rules are in place for the safety of park patrons, their pets, and the protection of park resources.

1. All dogs declared to be dangerous per Tonganoxie City Code Section 2-506 Dangerous Dogs (a)-(d) are not permitted to use the dog parks and shall not be allowed on the premises.
2. Handlers are responsible for any injuries caused by dog(s) under their control. Patrons using facilities do so at their own risk.
3. A the first sign of aggression, dogs must be leashed and removed from off-leash areas.
4. All dogs must be legally vaccinated and possess a tag or microchip. It is strongly recommended that dogs also wear an owner identification tag.
5. Dogs under 4 months of age or female dogs in heat are not allowed.
6. Dogs must be on-leash when entering and exiting the designated off-leash area.
7. Dogs must be under control and in view of their handler at all times.
8. Handlers must be 18 years of age or older. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Bringing children 5 and under inside the dog areas is discouraged.
9. No spiked or pinch collars.
10. Human food, glass containers, alcohol, tobacco and drugs are not permitted. Patrons using dog treats assume the risk of safe handling.
11. Handlers must pick up and dispose of their dog's waste in the collection containers provided.
12. Handlers must fill holes dug by dog(s) under their control. 
13. Toys, chairs, and other items brought into the park must be taken with their owner when they depart. Objects left in the park will be disposed of daily. 
14. Dog bites shall be reported immediately to the Tonganoxie Police Dept. via LV Co. Dispatch at 913-682-5724. For injuries requiring urgent attention, please call 911.  

Located at 222 Tonganoxie Dr. this 6 acre site sits just across Tonganoxie Creek from Chieftain Park. Generously funded by a substantial contribution from Hill's Pet Nutrition and supported by the Tonganoxie Recreation Commission, the new park will include separate play areas tailored for large and small dogs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for pets to socialize and exercise. Additional amenities included in the design are concrete parking, shade structure, drinking fountains, pet waste collection stations, a covered picnic area, and a children's play zone. Moreover, the park's design will feature a lighted walking trail that seamlessly integrates with Tonganoxie Drive's existing trail network, enhancing accessibility and connectivity within the community.
