Youth Activities

This 6-1/2 hour course covers safety skills, child care skills, life and business skills; as well as CPR instruction and manikin practice. Space is limited to the first 6 participants to register.
The class will be held at TRC's Activity Center (300 E. US 24/40) in the Activity Room.

This is an internet-assisted course.  
Participants must complete the online course through the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks.  You will not be allowed to participate in the field day if you cannot produce a completion certificate to the instructors at registration in the morning.  You can find this free course online at https://programs.ksoutdoors.com/prg/Programs/Hunter-Education-Certification

Additionally, you will be going on a short hike to a nearby outdoor shooting range located on site.  Please do not bring any firearms.  Guns and ammunition will be provided. 

Dress appropriately for the weather.  The class is in a metal building and if the weather is hot/cold it will be warm/cool in the building.  I suggest dressing in layers.  The shooting range may also be warm/cool/muddy, so wear appropriate shoes/jackets.

Come to the Recreation Activity center for All Ages Bingo! 10 rounds of bingo, prizes for each round, and snacks & drinks provided.

Join us at Chieftain Park for an hour of flexibility, balance, strength... and GOATS! 

Goat Yoga Mindy will be bringing her four-legged friends to the park for us to enjoy.

Age Requirement: 6 years +

Students will learn how to get started crocheting, chain and single crochet stitches and learn about different kinds of yarn and hooks. They will also learn how to end a project. Materials provided.

Students will review basic stitches, learn how to change colors, and learn how to double crochet.

Hot Wing Havoc - Tongie's Hottest Competition

TRC is hosting Tonganoxie's HOTTEST competition this summer... do you have what it takes? Earn local recognition and the admiration of your community for being able to handle THE HEAT. 

• Only 10 participants - $10 entry fee each
• Each participant will compete in 5 rounds of heat.
• Participants must finish eating at least 2 complete wings each round.
• Participants will be given 5 minutes for each round.
• Participants are not allowed to drink any sort of beverage during the round, or they are disqualified. (Exceptions made for choking. Beverages allowed on breaks.)
• Participants are allowed to “tap-out” at any time. Once they have tapped-out, they will be disqualified.

Completing each round will reward the participant a prize:
