Youth Activities

This 6-1/2 hour course covers safety skills, child care skills, life and business skills; as well as CPR instruction and manikin practice. Space is limited to the first 6 participants to register.
The class will be held at TRC's Activity Center (300 E. US 24/40) in the Activity Room.

Students will learn how to get started crocheting, chain stitch, and single crochet stitch. They will also learn how to end a project. Students will learn about different kinds of yarn and hooks. (1 session)

This is an internet-assisted course.  
Participants must complete the online course through the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks.  You will not be allowed to participate in the field day if you cannot produce a completion certificate to the instructors at registration in the morning.  You can find this free course online at https://ksoutdoors.gov/Services/Education/Hunter/Hunter-Ed-Courses/Hybrid-Course

Additionally, you will be going on a short hike to a nearby outdoor shooting range located on site.  Please do not bring any firearms.  Guns and ammunition will be provided. 

Dress appropriately for the weather.  The class is in a metal building and if the weather is hot/cold it will be warm/cool in the building.  I suggest dressing in layers.  The shooting range may also be warm/cool/muddy, so wear appropriate shoes/jackets.

This class introduces students to traditional taekwondo training, providing a strong foundation for their martial arts journey. Students will learn fundamental techniques, basic forms, coordination, and self-defense skills while developing essential life skills such as respect, focus, confidence, perseverance, and self-discipline.

This is a fitness program that combines Latin and International music with dance moves.

Zumba mixes low and high intensity moves for an interval style, calorie burning dance fitness party!

Bring your furry best friend and join the fun at Dog Days of Summer Bingo! Hosted by Tongie Rec and County Line Brewing, this all-ages event features five exciting rounds of bingo, paw-some prizes, dog-friendly snacks, and an afternoon full of fun, friends, and wagging tails.

Prizes will include items for you and your dog!

Registration is required, and all pups must be friendly, leashed, and up to date on vaccines.

PS: You do not need a dog to register. You are welcome to register and play and meet everyone's fuzzy buddy!

We'll also explore strategies for saving money, handling unexpected expenses, and making smart financial choices that support long-term goals. Whether they're living on campus, commuting, or entering the workforce, this workshop will equip them with practical time and money management skills and the confidence to thrive as they embark on their next chapter.

Bonus: Live Q&A session with College Students! Stick around for a 30-minute panel featuring first-year students attending colleges and universities across Kansas. Hear firsthand what surprised them most about managing money, balancing academics and work, budgeting for everyday expenses, and adjusting to campus life. Bring your questions and gain practical insights from students who have recently made the transition.

Drop the kids off for an evening packed with fun, games, and Pokémon adventures! Participants will learn the basics of pickleball with a beginner-friendly lesson before jumping into exciting games and friendly competition. Then they'll relax with Detective Pikachu (2019), get creative by designing their own Pokémon with Play-Doh, and enjoy a delicious dinner and snacks. It's the perfect mix of active play, creativity, and magic while parents enjoy a well-deserved night out!

5th & 6th Grade

Games will be a 12 minute running clock with teams being 3v3, while playing halfcourt. 10 ft goals. 

Full list of rules and tournament schedule will be sent out to teams prior to the event start date.

Welcome to the Lil Braves Cheer squad! Cheer leaders will practice once a week and perform at the flag football games during the fall season. Learn routines with coaches and Tonganoxie Middle School cheerleaders. Create lasting friendships and memories! Go BRAVES!

Includes practices, games, a t-shirt, pom-poms, and a bow. 

(We are not including a skirt this year; they will be optional. Cheerleaders may wear a red/black skirt, shorts, or pants with their uniform t-shirt.)
